I am not a weight-loss coach but I know some of my students are interested in the subject and also I would do ANYTHING to convince you all to sleep more!

Btw, sleep-deprived is anything less than 7-8 hours a night, every night.
And if you think you need less: no you don’t ❤️

Have you ever noticed that you get more hungry when you are tired?

That’s because sleep deprivation causes an imbalance in 2 hormones called leptin (that gives us the sense of being full) and ghrelin (that makes us hungry).

When you are tired, you are more hungry and feel less satiated.

Cravings

Not only that, but it has also been shown that when you are sleep-deprived, the part of your brain that controls your impulses is muted.

The less you sleep, the more likely you are to give in to cravings.

Dieting tired

Not only is it harder to lose weight when sleep-deprived, but the kind of weight lost is also very different.
A study showed that 70% of the weight lost by people who lacked sleep was not fat, but muscle mass.
When it doesn’t get adequate sleep, the body will try to preserve as much energy as possible.

In short…

The less you sleep, the more you eat.
If you are trying to lose or maintain weight, getting sufficient sleep (at least 7-8 hours per night) will make your life much, much easier.
It’s far from the only reason to prioritize your sleep, but it’s a good one to keep in mind!

I hope this was instructive :)
