A mistake many people make when they start going to the gym is to ignore rest days.
We want to build muscles and to take advantage of the burst of motivation we get after signing up. So we go every day and we go HARD.
What happens next is one of two things.
Best case, the body gets exhausted.
Worst case, injury.
We quickly learn that rest is part of the process. Muscles need to recover, and that’s actually during rest that they grow.
Rest gets a bap rap because our society overvalues productivity. But you cannot have productivity without rest.
And if you don’t give your body the rest it deserves, it will take it.
And you won’t have a choice of how and when.
