My favourite definition of pain is:

“It is whatever the experiencing person says it is, existing whenever and wherever the person says it does.” (McCaffery)

So often are doctors invalidating our experience, telling us we’re fine and shouldn’t be experiencing pain because their examination says so.

How often have you left a doctor’s office feeling discouraged and powerless?

The thing is, pain happens in the brain.

It DOESN’T mean that it isn’t real.

What it does mean is that it isn’t always linked to what actually happens in your body, especially in the case of persistent pain.

Your tissues may be fine, but your brain doesn’t believe so.

So what can you do?

If there really is nothing wrong with the part of your body that hurts, then you should have a look at where the pain is created: your nervous system.

And for that, I can help. ❤️

Send me a message, tell me about your experience, I’d love to chat.
