If you’d like to give meditation a try, I recommend you try these two (free!) apps.
Insight Timer
I’ve been using this one for years! They have added a ton of features since I started using it (which I admittedly haven’t explored because I’m only using the timer). The free version gives you access to many, many guided meditations, relaxing music tracks and even yoga classes.
If you’re just looking for a good timer, it delivers. You can chose the length of the meditation, set up interval bells, if you want ambient music to help you focus or not… and save several presets. It’s simple to use, has all the features I’m looking for in a timer, and it’s free!
The Breathing App
This app has been made by one of my favourite yoga teachers: Eddie Stern. As the name suggests, it’s more a pranayama (breathing practice) app than a meditation one, but it complements the Insight Timer one beautifully.
It’s extremely simple but effective. You set up a timer, a breathing rhythm, you choose if you want audio guidance or not, and you just… breathe.
It’s a guide for resonance breathing, which is a practice of breathing well to nourish our nervous system. If you have only 10 minutes per day to practice, this is the most beneficial thing you can do for yourself.
Do you have good meditation apps to recommend? Let me know! :)
